Rap in the New School

RAPOLITICS has been facilitating workshops in the Danish public school since 2009. So with the new school reform in 2014, it was natural for us to get involved with it. The reform states that the public school shall open up toward the community and work together with local organizations. RAPOLITICS has been invited by the Municipality of Copenhagen to be a part of a pilot project as a part of “The Open School”-element in the new school reform.

Project Info

In the fall of 2014 RAPOLITICS visited 3 selected schools in the isle of Amager and facilitated rap workshops for the students there. The workshops were planned so they complement the normal teaching.  For example in “Danish” the students were taught about youth culture and identity by the teacher and then RAPOLITICS complemented it with rap workshops on the topic. The plan is that the pilot project will be implemented throughout the schools in the city of Copenhagen. We repeating the workshops in April 2015. Other municipals are welcome to contact RAPOLITICS for similar cooperation for the new school reform.
