Rap, Football & Peace in Iraq

RAPOLITICS coorporate with Operation Day’s Work (OD) again this year in carrying out a number of rap workshops. This happens as part of the campaign Theme day which takes place in highschools all over Denmark. The 2012 OD campaign focus on establishing a youth movement in Iraq in cooperation with CCPA (Cross Cultures Project Association), who will use sport activities to empower the youth population of Iraq. Young men and women will be educated and supported in developing an active and strong club and association culture, which will include people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. They will be educated as club leaders and given the tools to establish clubs and associations all over Iraq in order for them to be included in society, take responsibility and get the opportunity to make a better future for the children and youth in the war-torn country..

Project Info

RAPOLITICS cooperated with OD in 2011 where the focus of their campaign was on Rebellion and Rights in the Rainforest in Peru. This year, we partnered again with OD contributing to their Iraq campaign with rap workshops for high school students in Denmark. The workshops aimed at informing the students of this year’s campaign theme in an alternative and creative way. RAPOLITICS coaches helped the students write their own rap lyrics reflecting the challenges and potentialities facing the generation of young people living in post war Iraq. The rap competition was won by a group of girls from Christianshavns Gymnasium. The track is about Iraqui girls and their right to be heard.
