Democracy Makers in Lebanon
Background

RAPOLITICS’ office is just on the other side of the GAM3 facilities (former StreetMekka) and we have a partnership agreement with GAME related to the BeatMekka studio, where we in 2014 offer teaching at a rap school for adolescents and youth from all over Copenhagen. In 2011/2012 we involved some raptivists from Lebanon on a project entitled BOKRA in Jordan and in 2013 we invited them – together with other raptivists from Egypt and Palestine, to participate in the RapLab seminar in Denmark. We are glad to team up with GAME for this project in Lebanon.

Project Info

Democracy Makers is a project developed by GAME in Lebanon. The project aims at educating young people in Lebanon to become ambassadors of democracy through street basketball, street football, street dance and rap. The participants in the project will be taught how to express themselves through these activities and will gain tools and knowledge regardging gender equality, conflict resolution and on how to organize street activities for other kids and youth. RAPOLITICS was responsible for the training of the participants in rap with the aim of getting them to reflect on the society they live in and the opportunity of using rap to vocalize opnions, wishes and ambitions for themselves and their communities.
